Thx, if J and C class were not fulled yet, how can I request for a free upgrade?
e...?
What method did u request for an exit row? Did u take exit row b4?
And which day are u going to take 254?
I have reserved one day's CX254 for 54H seat, an exit row aisle seat... haha~~^^
But my method was by asking CX staff via Marco Polo Hotline on phone... =.=""
Even the flight is not full, they may not alow you to have free upgrade (you are not suppose to la!)
It all depends on the staff in LHR, in my experience female English staff are more friendly than male staff...
I am a Marco Polo Silver member, we have 1st choice to choose the exit row (i.e. row 44 on B747-400)

I will travel CX254 on 7th June.
Oic, thx very much~
If we are silver member,
so just request by making phone call to The Marco Polo Club hotline to reserve exit row?
Did u take exit row before (CX)?
And I would like to ask, did you take other airlines' exit row before?
Normally, VS is quite hard to get a FREE exit row seat,
as their policy is when the passenger request for an exit row seat,
they have to pay GBP 50 (~around HKD$725) in any single direction for LHR<->HKG~
For other airlines policies,
they have stated that, passenger who request for a seat in exit row must be over 18 years old.
thx so much~!
P.S.: You are Uni student or Sixth form student at the moment?
Because I found that your return flight is quite early in comparing of us,
I am U6th, and have got loads of GCE-ALE modules until late JUNE...>.<""
I had got a case in Virgin before,
the flight was LHR<->HKG in both bounds,
as I didn't make a online check-in,
they had recommended me to stay in a hotel near LHR (arranged by VS of course)
and take the next day flight, which is totally 24 hours later,
they have guarranteed you will have an ECONOMY (just!?!) seat at the next day flight,
besides, they will provide a FREE return flight in any Virgin Atlantic network within a year time...
I refused to do so, and I was in risky at that time (last OCT half term)~~
In my opinion, it is far more easy to get FREE upgrade, or else a FREE return flight,
if you do not make a online check-in in the airline website.
Normally, it is quite difficult to get a checked-in passenger to upgrade to J-class and C-class from Y- ~
As they have to reset your check-in procedure for others,
in order to let the seat from "occupied" status become "vacancy" status~~

Last time when I flown with VS, they ask me to fly next day due to overbooked... And I said I live rather far from the airport so they provide me a hotel room and use the hotel facilities and meal for free... A free return ticket valid within 1 year in VS network...
But as the next day was overbooked and no passenger pull out so they upgraded me too...

Oh...what a cool thing that they have provided for you...!!^^
Which hotel was it? Did VS provide transport for you to get to/from the hotel?
And which class did they upgrade for you, Premium Economy or Upper class?
