Volvo Olympic still can be found in some cities especially in the Northern England.
Bradford is one of those cities which still operate school bus service by Volvo Olympic.
This time I have paid a visit to the Bradford First bus depot and luckily I have captured most of the fleet in Bradford area.
Apart from aforementioned fleet, some single-deckers also operate school bus services in Bradford area.
It is rare to see Volvo Olympic operated on this route.
In celebration of 125 years of buses in Huddersfield, one of the Volvo Olympic has been printed with a full body advertisement since 2008.
.
You can always find Volvo Olympic on route 183 in Huddersfield
and also route 185
There is a limited stop service,'X6', running between Huddersfield and Bradford
I still wonder that is it really designated for bus?
Well - that's Volvo OLYMPIAN...
(for that "Olympic": it is the name for the same model of bus
from "Cities in Motion (CIM)" London addon-pack, as Roadmaster Olympic.
However, they looked alike the each other, either real vehicle or that make-up version of CIM...)
The photo of the Volvo Olympians reminded its counterpart in Hong Kong
(That's the Leyland Olympian [BL-class, KMB]: but it applied narrow entry doors
[leaving the left door using - the bodyworks covered the non-existed right entry door],
and another "standard wide" exit door, located at the third window from your photoed Olympians.)
However, it is too crowded to use a 10-meter bus in Hong Kong in mid-1980s,
so: it was rarely seen in 1990s: as either KMB and CMB (on the Island)
applied 11-meter / 12-meter "jumbo" version of Olympians
for its extra 40+ capacity - as well as Air-con buses replaced those without an Air-conditioner.
(That's unthinkable for our foreigner pals; unless those HK jumbos back to their home country
for school buses proposes... no matter the Air-con were installed or not.)
Thank you for your photos, including those President-bodied Olympians and 10.3m ones......
(but Hong Kong is a tropical city: without that windows...
it sounded oven-heated during sunny summer [that's the why we needed Air-con buses.])
PS Even the Chinese translation I was mixed up
both "奧林比安" (Olympian) and "奧林匹克" (Olympic)... for sometimes
but it sounds we can share this mistaken names...(pardon me to say so, pal.)
PS 七成似MCW Evolution 0既車頭、加個改自MAN 13.230樣0既兩側...
(都唔知邊間車身廠抄邊個...
反正型號叫Condor 0既...原來唔止利蘭公司0既中巴禿鷹一款...)
PS2 Should anybody show that school bus's "birth certificate" plate
for our check-ups? (May this tells the name of the bodyworks...)
