New Delhi & Agra

Weekend getaways are always fun, and I had the desire to explore. Too bad I arrived in New Delhi during the monsoon season though. It rained and rained and rained, although it was still worth it to see this place. In fact, it was far more green and tranquil than my other Indian adventure in Mumbai.  







India Gate is supposedly in the heart of the city, but buildings were hardly visible in the vicinity. New Delhi is certainly very green.









Humayun's Tomb is set in yet another vast scene of greenery. It was a pleasant and comfortable stroll outdoors. If only it wasn't pouring.







Incredible architecture.

















The Taj Mahal was a hectic day trip. Luckily the sun came out and the photos turned out somewhat decent. Although the ride out was long and painful as the road was busy with overloaded trucks, animals, and the like, I'd still recommend the trip, but on the train instead.



This better be worth it ...

It didn't seem that big compared to the photos in books, but nevertheless the white marble was stunning.

































Imagine had the black Taj Mahal been built across the river ...











What a fun weekend getaway to New Delhi! Now, I need to go back during dry season.
