How to go to 深圳西站 from HK?
you can take MTR to Lok Ma Chau, than take the Shenzhen metro to 竹子林 (you would have a ride on line 4 which is operated by MTR) use B2出口. Once you reach the ground floor, just go on to walk to the front and you will see a bus stop. Take the bus 234 (RMB 2) to arrive 深圳西站 (also the terminus for this bus).
How long does it take?
I took the bus 234 (@竹子林) at 11:50
Arrive the terminus at 12:30
pass through the shelter
and go to buy the train ticket (may need to wait for a long time)
Got the train(1204 to 惠州) ticket at 12:43
(I bought the return ticket(T107 惠州 to 深圳[means the station near Lo Wu]) together
but since the ticket issued(issued at深圳西) is not the station where you start the journey(惠州), an addition $5)
If you want to see the 綠皮 by yourself, stop here, don't roll down for the photos and videos
Go to 驗票(please go there at least 5 mins before the train depart)
than wait in 候車室

because i go to 深圳灣口岸 is slower than to Lok Ma Chau via East rail line, so i chose east rail line.
Actually, if you want the 234 bus route take shorter time, you may pick the bus at later station. But i had not figure out was the exact location of the bus stop is near the MTR exit. May be you can check did the last station of MTR 深大 has the bus stop
also for the return trip, you are correct, My return train T107 delayed for about 20 minutes
