What's the powertrain on those E400??
Thanks
As far as I know, they're fitted with
Cummins ISCe 8.3-litre engine, but
while the Euro IV emission standard
is issued, they'll be fitted with ISBe
6.7-litre one.

How about CAT engines metioned in the alexander dennis homepage?
nothing fancy on these new machines. They have the same engine as the 52-reg Tridents in London. I presume it sounds the same as the 2301 - 2310 in Citybus, Hong Kong. Bear that in mind I have never rode on the 23-series Tridents in Hong Kong, only I know the fact that the 23-series in CTB are fitted with Cummins Euro III engine. I rode on TE666 and the interior of the lower deck was simply - tight! As some of our members already experienced it in Bus and Coach Live 2005. Particularly, the set of seats on the rear wheel-arch was so tight that I have not seen a single person managed to fit him/herself into it, even me, a 170cm-tall Chinese was finding a hard time to fit into those seats! Also some passengers was complaining about the single seat behind the driver cab was too dark.
Here is a comparison shot between the mobile phone TE668 and the plaxton bodied bus; also a nearside shot of TE667 [the blinds could not be changed].
Please note the headlights: although the bus has a set of three, only two are in use!
I do not like the interior design of the bus:
downstairs, the seat behind the driver [I call it the punishemt seat] is horrid, and the 4 seats behidn the doors do not have enough space for the legs, I can not fit my shoe [size 10.5] into the space.
upstairs the 4 front seats are also too narrow.
that's 9 seats on the bus without enough room for the legs.
the seats over the wheelarch are hard and cause a back ache, and the seats are hard and uncomfortable [that's Metroline ordering cheap and nasty seats to save costs].
the buses are also slow, as they have the delay mechanism to open and shut the rear doors. it increased the dwell time by 4 seconds per stop.
