Munich Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest was the reason why I was in Munich, and quite a fun party it was. The Germans are good drinkers, and they still maintain their poise even after a few drinks. I didn't see disorder anywhere throughout the grounds!

1. Leaving the U-bahn station, there was a huge yet polite crowd in the Oktoberfest park so early in the day already.







4. These fish drew my attention. They're quite big, and would make a lovely lunch.

8. After lunch, I explored the beer tents. These are impossible to book so we settled with Hofbrauhaus in the city centre. This one looks quite festive and nicely-decorated.



9. This place looked like a carnival. One after another these buildings were neatly lined up and inside were cultured drinkers!









13. This is not just a place for drinking. They served good food to go with the beer.





15. No mad drunks here!









19. What impressed me the most was the level of civility in this whole place. My experiences with drinking places in North America often include some fight or some people being thrown out by the bouncer. I guess the clubbing scene is a bit different, but with so much booze being served at this central location, I was very surprised I did not see one bit of inappropriate behaviour at all.





21. All this looks like a very nice version of a weekend neighbourhood barbecue!









25. It was a lot of fun exploring one tent after another, and each one had its own style and uniqueness.









29. I take it back .. I did encounter some rowdiness at one point in my journey.



.. and I wasn't hurt.



31. Ahh .. pretzels, which seemed like the national food of Germany. They go well with beer. I had a dark beer the night before with lemon, which tasted like iced tea actually. It was very good.









35. Probably not a place for vegetarians.



36. I had my fun with beer the night before at Hofbrauhaus. The atmosphere was great and the crowd bursted into glass tossing and chants every now and then. The food was great and cheap as well!
