A Bus spilled 100 litres of diesel in the Centre after its fuel tank was ruptured by a high kerb. The spillage flooded the road outside the Bristol and West building on Broad Quay at 11am.
It is believed the driver of the 904 Park and Ride bus hit a high kerb while going through roadworks at Broad Quay and ruptured the fuel tank of the bus, which was in service at the time.
The driver pulled over outside the Bristol and West building and called Avon Fire and Rescue Service, while passengers on the bus were moved to another bus.
Firefighters from Temple Back were called to the scene to clear up the fuel using a hose and two tons of sand. First managing director Alex Perry said the cause of the accident was being investigated. He said: "It appears that the bus hit a high kerb as he was trying to avoid a vehicle that was parked near road works at Broad Quay. The bus was in service at the time and passengers were taken off the bus at Broad Quay and transferred to another bus with minimum disruption."
