Why MD not common in the UK?

In the UK, most of young people now only use CD players or ipod. I hardly see classmates at my uni have MD player. Why?

記得曾有人講過,MD是為亞洲市場而設,英國當然好少人用,甚至仲用緊Walkman,當然MD及Walkman已近沒落,而MP3就是MD及Walkman的替代品(正如可錄影式DVD替代VCR錄影機)
