Not sure about the Scania (I suspect a Scania’s 12-speed Opticruise gearbox), but the B12Bs are definitely fitted with Volvo's 12-speed i-Shift transmission. The gear level is on the right hand side, just next to the cup-holders.

No, it's an automatic system based on a manual transmission. The only thing I know is it has a computer within the unit that, using factors like the speed and road conditions, calculate and select the right gear as the vehicle moves along. It does not shift through all 12 gears, but jumps through them when needed. So let's say for a standing start to 100kph cruise, it may shift from 2nd > 5th > 7th > 10th > 12th.
