In one of the biggest procurement competition in its recent history, the US Air Force have just announced that they have selected Northrop Grumman to supply up to 179 tanker aircraft, based on the EADS A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport, or informally designated the KC-30, over Boeing's 767-based solution.
The new tanker aircraft is now formally designated as the KC-45A.
