I'm wondering, how can these buses by pass the "buy canadian" standard set by the government, cause US have such standard too, where 60% of the bus has to be assembly/ made in US, this is why u can sometimes see new flyer bodies truck across the boarder into US without running gear/ seats/ etc...
Also, how can the LV's Enviro by pass such legistlation.

I am not suprise that the Enviro pass the buy US ACT, as there seats, Mirrors, Engines, Electrical system is made in the US.
I have been told there is also an exception if there is no such product Made in the US.

CAT did not use Federal money to buy Enviro 500 indeed, according to general manager of RTC.
In addition, those double deckers on the deuce route (strip local) have roughly 150-180% fare recovery ratio. So say it is one of very few exceptions in the country that agency can make money by the service.

ya, even though in BC Transit, they didn't use the money from the Federal government, but they're using the money from provincial govenment (coz' BC Transit is own by Government of BC) to order Darts, Tridents and Enviros~~
