(About seats) How to get a seat in exit row and get free upgrade at check-in?

BA's upgrade?
Did u know what were their reasons to upgrade for your friends?

From World Traveller to World Traveller Plus/Club Word/First Class?~

Because there was 3 children follow 1 15yrs old... All from my school... Manage to check-in at last minute, but as the flight overbooked... And only had 1 Economy class seat, but as the 15yrs old had to look after the 3 children, so they all got upgraded all together to Club World...

And is there anyone know the following:
Why the VS booking system will holded up part of the seats in the seat map in VS site?
Becoz when u check the seat map more than 48 hours before departure,
you will find that, the near the time to 48 hours before departure,
fewer and lesser available seats for you to choose.

But, just at or after 36 hours prior to departure (NOT in the check-in site),
you will see that, there are more seats be unlocked for you to choose from~

Anyone get the idea or reason for that?~

If you don't choose a seat for yourself,
will the system allocate a random seat for me automatically (just like CX)?~
