There could be many reason that affect the plane land smoothly or not...
Weather looks good doesnt means its good... There could be strong wind that couldnt be seen... And the wind rather strong today over in UK and weather is not too good with a cold front approaching UK today...
Also... I believe that if the aircraft is really not stable enough... Then they wont gain the necessary licence to get into passenger operation...

Totally agree, as long as the plane (A380) has gain necessary safety document and licences mean it is as safe as other model.
