carnival specials

The 2 day Notting Hill Carnival- now in it's 21st year [always takes place on the last Sunday/Monday in August] is with us again:

Two special routes are in operation this year:

Route 36X and route 436X from Peckham vauxhall and victoria to the carnival.

Extras were operated on routes 390 148 and 15, and route 316 was double deck.
on Monday, route 18 should have extra double decks.

For the photo of B7TL, what the TV had been installed at the upper deck for??

This is 'crystal eyes' . there are several competing systems; it seems like each bus company uses different equipment. but, what they all have in common is that they are allowed to show commercials, weather forecasts, and some short features.
Unlike HK, no speakers are permitted, as passangers complained about the noise.  The one feature I dislike about travelling on a bus in HK is that it is a noisy ride. I have no wish to hear the latest music records while travelling.

The screen was part of the Crystal Eye system. Apart from the functions
pointed out by Yoram, the main purpose of the screen is to show CCTV
imagines, as a measure to warn prospective trouble-makers and vandals.
