Enviro 400 enter service on route 196

Dear All,

London General won route 196, and bought 15 Enviro400 for a requirement of 13 buses. The new contract started today.

Here are two photos I took today at vauxhall bus station- nearside and offside.

The buses are fairly similar to the E400 already in service on route 24 with Metroline.

I do feel this model looks rather ugly when it has London General's livery, I prefer it is all over red!

Dear All,

London General ordered a batch of 39 Enviro400s for Stockwell garage- 22 [15 for route 196,7 for route 87] , and Peckam garage- 17 buses for route 37. The first batch of 15 was delivered to Stockwell garage for route 196 started Saturday.

The techincal spec and seating arrangement are identical to the batch of 28 E400 already with Metroline on route 24. I do not have those at hand.

No they are not. The Metroline TEs retained the Euro 3 ISCe 8.3L engine, rated at 220PS.
The Es have the smaller Euro 4 ISBe4 6.7L engine, rated 250PS. The gearbox shall be
Voith D854.5E if I am not mistaken.

Yes, you are right, and I should have been a little bit more precise! Externally and internally the bodies and the seating arrangements are the same. the seating arrangement downstairs is really bad for people taller than 1.75m. the engine is indeed Euro4- how could I have forgottern the lengthy spin coming out from London Buses about how wonderful Euro 4 is? [ha ha ha]
