In the UK from 2005, people don't need to sign when they pay by card for their shopping. Just need to put the card in the card reader and insert password for authorisation.

How about in HK now? The same or not?

Credit Card 定 Debit Card 先？

If you are saying credit card, you still need to sign the bill except buying tickets at cinemas.
For debit card however, no signature is required for years.

P.S.: I had never used any debit card before. To my understanding, debit card is an EPS-equivalent in UK which debits to your savings account, is that true?

香港現時只有星展/和黃既compass及渣打/牛奶既options卡
有置入ic卡,有專用既讀卡机,但ic卡只用于儲入積分,不用于核實,
仍使用簽名,在指定集團以外仍使用磁帶/簽名,
因此不屬于威士新近推出以ic卡/密碼作核實既卡.
該類新出既'威士'卡係在于用ic卡比磁帶有較強既保安性,
威士已計划在現有磁帶卡到期后以ic卡取代,但仍然會有磁帶,
供客人在無專用ic机既商戶沿用磁帶/簽名.
至于在戲院使用既'免簽小額簽賬'威士在香港早已推出,只收取20美幣以下既
簽賬,但仍不及8達通既無觸ic卡支付普及.

香港既EPS(easy payment system)及澳大利亞既EFTPOS(electronic fund transfer/
point of sale)係使用磁帶提款卡以專用讀卡机由戶口扣數,商戶既收費
較低但不能在國外使用.
威士有提供visa electron以簽名方式經威士网絡由戶口扣數,香港無發卡
亦只有小數商戶受理.

好似渣打銀行的EPSPIT信用卡都有置入ic卡的
