I dont think A340 is a failure... If so, I believe Airbus wont have invest big money to develop A345/A346...
Having said that, I believe A343 would be out soon as their order is running low already... I believe only around 2 more years to live...
But on A346, I believe order are still coming in and still more order to come... It would just continue to success of A343 and maybe double the order number...
A345 is just like A342... I dont think it would be a great success and they are also running out of order already...
The main reason of A340 being a successful jet is it bring in competition and make Boeing work hard to develop their B777 family to complete... Also a big adventage is that A330/A340 are a family which means airlines could buy A330 for middle range and A340 for long range with pilot able to fly on both jets with only 1 centification which is a big adventage for airlines to keep cost low... Also means the flexability would increase...
Also I believe it is very likely that we could see A330/A340 order reach 1000 within the next 2 yrs...
I think 345 running out of order is because of 772ER/LR, plus the ultra long range market is not that big. Almost the same reason, 346 has a lower number order because 773 is already in the market and 773ER is comming when 346 roll out.
And do anyone know how is the second hand market value of 340 and 777?
It seems like second hand 777 are more welcomed than second hand 340.
The main reason if Airbus still havent put A350 information on the site yet is because A350 is not formally launch yet... The jet is planned to be twin-engine long-haul aircraft with the flight distance of over 10000km...
Well... About A345 order, they have got more order compare to B772LR pax version... With 26 comparing to a couple... Also, A346 have already received 100+ order already which aint bad and also A346 is competiting with B773ER both are tend to be long-haul jets with 300+ seats...
