Buses like that were produced for use in Scotland in their hundreds - volvos with this style of blindbox and alexander body. production ceased in 1986, and , the buses were transferred when the bus companies were sold in the late 1980s to many owners.
Here are two survivors- both with stagecoach. the nearside view of the bus- 15295- is at dumfires and shows off the now standard stagecoach livery, while 916 is at Dundy, showing the colours of the local bus company which was taken over by stagecoach.

The Stratclyde Alexander in your second picture is actually a Leyland Olympain/Alexander RL
instead of a Volvo.
